Root Canal

The inflammation or infection of the tooth can have a variety of causes: deep decay, repeated dental procedures or faulty crowns. Trauma to a tooth can cause pulp damage even when there are no visible chips or cracks in the tooth. If inflammation or infection to the tooth pulp is not treated, it can lead to an abscess and can be quite painful.
Why would a patient require root canal?
There are various reasons for root canal treatment namely:
- Decay in the tooth involving the pulp, nerve and blood vessel
- Irreversible pulpitis due to trauma or an old leaking restoration
- Acute pulpitis
- Fracture into the pulp
- Re-preparation of an old root canal treatment
